Linda pant front
Linda pant back
I mentioned in my Jalie Jean post that FabricMart had given me an extra 2.5 yards of the stretch cream Jones New York corduroy because it had spots. (They came out in the wash.) I decided to use the fabric whip up my fourth pair of Linda pants (from Style Arc) and do a side-by-side comparison.
So, what do you think? Do you think one pair is better than the other? One pair is sure more comfortable to wear than the other. :)

Thanks to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, I am looking forward to a 3-day sewcation! (Term borrowed from Carolyn.) I have the supplies for several projects and we'll see how it goes. I've also made up some eggless salad and roasted some veggies, so I'm ready to go!
I am still waiting to hear from two of the giveaway winners. I plan to put in my Style Arc order on Sunday night. BBinGA, please contact me! Where are youuuuu? :)
I think the pants fit differently because they are intended to fit differently. The Jalie have more of a jeans fit, very snug in the crotch area. The SA Linda, OTOH, fit more like pants or trousers.
ReplyDeleteOn you, stick with the trouser fit and the Linda pants. More flattering. The jeans fit somehow slightly emphasizes your top half. But, when you want a pair of jeans, definitely make the Jalies. The fit is very good.
hmm, I have to be honest and say I can't tell which pair looks better.
ReplyDeleteThey both look VERY good and I love that top!
I am looking forward to a relatively calm weekend.
First there was Hurricane Laura (ha ha my DD came home after 3 years abroad) and then Hurricane Irene and, I am SO ready for a restful weekend.
sew like the wind!
I also think they both look great! The Lindas look more dressy and the Jalies more casual (like jeans would). I also LOVE your top, and the white pants with it.
ReplyDeleteJust looking at the pics, I like the ones on my left - believe these are the Style Arc ones. I just like a straighter leg - makes anyone look slimmer, compared to a flare.
ReplyDeleteWe're in the same state!!! Just a wee bit south of south in San Diego. Had a fabulous 4-hour catch-up chat and lunch with Sally at Spirit of the Cloth. Of course, gave her some of my $$!!!
See you the week of Thanksgiving - we need to pick a date!
Love your new Linda pants. As for which looks better....have you got an easier question? LOL. Seriously I can't decide. They are both very flattering. The Linda's are obviously quicker to sew and I assume more comfortable to wear, so maybe they win. But you can't go past a pair of jeans with all the jean details can you? I declare it a tie. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Linda pant on you much better than the Jalie. The style is more flattering, perhaps because the legs are cut with less flare. I think if the pants were a darker color the Jalie would look more balanced.
ReplyDeleteI like the Linda pant, but the Jalie's look good too. Thank you again for the button gift certificate...I've already placed an order and Julie is a peach to work with...thanks for turning me on to another sewing source.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the Linda's...although it's a close call! I'm definitely going to AIF this year...will you be there?
ReplyDeleteMargy
I vote for the Style Arc Linda - more flattering for your figure. Some of us are just not meant to wear jeans! although many of the other comments are correct, both fit you excellently, and the Jalie jeans fit exactly as intended.
ReplyDeleteI say go with the more comfortable as they are both a great fit. The straight leg Style Arc may be slightly more flattering.
ReplyDeleteI think the Linda ones look best - generally a better fit - good idea to do the comparison!
ReplyDeleteOn the front view, the Linda pants get my vote, no question. For the back view, I think they both look equally good, for different reasons (all pretty much covered above). But that said, w/o the comparison, the Jalie jeans still look great on you, front and back!
ReplyDeleteThe Linda pants are in my queue....so much sewing to do! So little time/energy! eek!
Well, they are both look like an amazing fit in their own two different styles. I am a huge white pants fan so I love them both equally! And I love the overall look of the jeans on the right, if I might be so bold as to say so, your ahem, rear view is tres shapely! Well done, you hot mumma you!
ReplyDeleteI think they both look terrific - wait, that would be the mutual factor of your terrific legs. Hmmm, the Style Arc has the edge IMO, but it is a slender edge.
ReplyDeleteI think the fit is great on both of them, although I'm drawn to the one on the left.
ReplyDeleteI like the Linda Style Arc pants better than the Jalie jeans. To me the straighter leg on the Style Arc pants is more becoming...but that's to me! *LOL* However, it is kewl that you got 2 great pairs of white pants from that one purchase. Ummmm, have you bought anything from the pyramid of savings sale?
ReplyDeleteThey both look great, but I have to give the edge to the Linda pants. Very flattering! And I love the top!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't say which are more comfortable - or maybe I missed it, but I vote for the Style Arc pants, they look great and the fit is fantastic. If you didn't put them side by side then I would not see a difference but since you did. Also - could you fiddle around with the Style Arc pants and give them a jeans fly and pockets? Best of both worlds ?
ReplyDeleteI like them both about the same. There's little things about each of them that I like/don't like. I like the smooth lines of the StylArc pants, but I like the flare of the Jalie's. I think that they both have their place and look great on you though. :-) Sorry I'm no help!
ReplyDeleteThey both look fantastic but I'll give a slight edge to the Linda pants. Nothing new here! The back fit of the Jalie is great. Do you think Style Arc has a jean pattern in the works?
ReplyDeleteYou guys ROCK! I love reading your opinions on my two pants! The Style Arc are more comfortable, even though they are a bit tight in the waist. I don't use her waistband because it's too small for me. But because the fabric is a stretch woven, and there is an elastic waistband, they are comfy and they STAY UP.
ReplyDeleteI can see most of you think about the fit of pants a lot more than I do. This is very educational!! Thanks for your comments!!
And, Carolyn, nope, I haven't bought anything from the Pyramid of Sales at FabricMart. lol. I'm kinda trying to save my money for Artistry in Fashion later this month! Though I did buy more corduroy from Fashion Fabric Club (same as Denver Fabrics) yesterday. They are having a free shipping sale and I just love their corduroy!
Also, I have heard from BBinGA and my order to Style Arc is going in today!!
Great pants, both of them. Good to have tried both patterns and choose which is most comfortable to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the Linda pants the best, because of the straight leg. It's most flattering to you. But the jeans do look great, too. Very good fit on both pair. Will you come to Massachusetts and help me make a good-fitting pair of pants?
ReplyDeleteThis pants are hot. Great job.
ReplyDeleteLove both on you, a great, but different fit with each pair. I love the flare bottom of the JJ's, but the Linda pants' straight leg cut is great also. They both fit so well in the derriere. Just sayin'. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm (just) leaning toward the Linda pants, too, although for me, I'd make them a smidge longer. They both look great on you -- nice closet boosters!
ReplyDeleteI', a vote for the Linda pants too, but I have to agree with one of the other commenters above that you have great legs - and both pairs show that!
ReplyDeleteThose are both terrific pants. Hard to make a choice. BUT, I absolutely LOVE the red/white combo. It's a gorgeous outfit, regardless of which pants you wear.
ReplyDeleteWhile those jeans are nice, i'm also giving the edge to the Linda pant - very flattering, backside view is wonderful! That top is so wonderful too - that red is your color!
ReplyDeleteI think the Jalie are more flattering, but you are standing differently so it is a little difficult to compare. Both look great.
ReplyDeleteThey both look wonderful, but I first saw the Linda image and thought you looked like a million bucks. So I guess that's pretty great, right?
ReplyDeleteThey are different - both look good but the Linda pants are by far my favourite.
