Spring Vogues are Out!

Just in the last day or so I started stalking the BMV website. I figured the spring Vogues were due to be out soon. And there they were this morning!

I guess I am feeling spring, which is ironic because we've barely had winter.

Anyway, there are some gorgeous dresses for the demographic that my daughters belong to. I will leave those to other reviewers. (Well, kinda sorta...) For my demographic and my lifestyle, I see some nice patterns, too! Here are my favorites.

(By the way, what is up with some of the model poses? Some of them make it really hard to see the designs. For example, in the Betzina skirt, why is the funky hem mostly covered? Are they hiding something? Did the photographer/stylist not like the hem? I always look at the line drawings, but it's especially important with some of the pics from this spring collection, though most of the pics I've highlighted below are ok.)

Vogue 8795: Marcy Tilton jacket

Vogue 8793: Katharine Tilton top

Vogue 8792: Vogue Easy Options top

Vogue 1292: Sandra Betzina skirt with a great hem.

Vogue 8791. This very easy Vogue reminds me of a Mizono design and features a mock wrap front.

Vogue 1293: Anne Klein. I love the design lines on this jacket. Love. It would be amazing in a denim fabric or even a ponte. Think outside of the box. :)

Vogue 1294: Anne Klein. You know, I've never noticed Anne Klein patterns before, but I also like the lines on this top. I'd modify the flounce on it and lengthen the sleeves, but it has real potential.

There is also this Sandra Betzina top, but it would be a horror on me, I'm sad to say.

And now, because I can't stand it, here are a few completely gorgeous dresses. For someone else. :)

The BMV site is also having a sale right now. I am not buying any patterns this month, so I'll let you guys have the first shot. :)

  1. I really wanted to see/read what you liked from this grouping because you will like a different version of patterns than most. You have made me look at one pattern with different eyes and I will buy a couple tonight whilst they are on sale but I'm not that excited about the offerings.

    1. I can't wait to see what you are up to, Carolyn. But if I were to venture a guess, it would be one of the Anne Klein patterns? :)

  2. Yup. You picked all the good ones. Can you see the where the zipper would go in the Katherine Tilton top V8793. This is from the notions listed.

One 24" - 28" Lightweight Molded Separating Zipper or Combination of Two Zippers, If Needed, See Sewing Instructions.

Now I think I see them, on the neckline, as a trim. Hmm, could be interesting.

    1. Good catch, Elle. I hadn't noticed that. Yes, the zipper tape seems to adorn the very interesting neckline. I'm liking this pattern more and more!

  3. No surprise here, but I'm in accord with pretty much all of your picks. (both the 'for me' and the 'for someone else' choices) And wtf on the poses?

Oh, and did you notice that they have OVERLAPPED THE SIZES? 14 is included in both the smaller and the larger batch. Someone is listening!!!!

    1. No, I didn't notice that, JillyBe, probably because I haven't ordered any. Great news!

  4. Ohhh I'm so happy, I think I'm actually going to be able to post a comment!!! Yea! Maybe I shouldn't celebrate until it actually goes through.
I really like the stripe T-shirt, the strip skirt and that little skinny black dress is fabulous. I must have that dress. Thanks for sharing Shams.

  5. Yay, Rhonda! I'm glad you can post the comment. You aren't the first one to have problems and I don't understand it.

  6. Wonderful choices! Guess I should head over there and have a look at the actual site, instead of depending on other bloggers to show me what's new, eh?

  7. By the way, Rhonda, you would rock that skinny black dress. :D

  8. Hmm, a sale? Like I need more patterns!!!!! I have to admit, I adore your selections even as I think they'd be easy to replicate using existing inventory.

  9. Gee, could they find some skinnier models?

I do like that Anne Klein jacket, but I'd have to make it longer for me. I also like the first Jacket pictured, but I have a better moto jacket pattern from an old Burda WOF. Nothing much here for me, I'm afraid.

  10. On my way out the door to catch the Tilton jacket, the Tilton knit top, and the mock wrap top patterns while they are still on sale at Joanns....thanks for the post & the photos!

  11. I like some of these a lot, but will not be buying more patterns in 2012. Or that is the resolution for now.

  12. Well, once I realized that I was probably a little too softly-rounded for most of these, I focused on the model poses- were some of them trying discretely to get invisible toilet paper off of their shoes?

  13. Despite our short/mild winter, I am ready for spring, always!! Lots of great dresses that I could wear if only I had an occasion :) I am so glad you pointed out V1293 the white Anne Klein suit. that is so sharp and lately I have a desire for a fitted suit with ankle length pants, So maybe I will give that a try.
But the poses - I agree, what is up with that?? If the goal is to present styles for sale they are not doing themselves any favors. Maybe trying to be more "editorial" ? anyway - thank goodness for the line drawings.

  14. A number of these found their way into my shopping cart last night. Let's see, I love 8795, the jacket with cool trim. I am in lust with the zipper collar on 8793. Both of these will be featured in my spring sewing, along with some other nice patterns. The Tilton sisters did it again!

  15. Elle C is right - you picked the good ones - I'm filling my cart up tonite before they go away. Those dresses are fantastic, I can't wear them (too much of me!) but ah, perchance to dream. And how about those Tilton sisters - I like almost everything they do!

  16. Shams, just realized that 8793 has a really interesting collar. You are smart to order it. I misread it as simply a twisted collar. Now that I see Katherine's blog on it, it is much more interesting. Thanks for posting your faves.

  17. The dresses are absolutely lovely, and at another time in my life, I'm sure I would've swooped them up. My favorite of your showings is the Katherine Tilton top. It is very classy. I'm not really crazy about the skirt hem, but then i'm short and that kind of hem would shorten me even more.
