(If you are looking for the interview with Marcy Tilton, here you go!)
Cañada College hosted a blogger meetup last night.
So.much.fun!
There were special guests (Lynda Maynard, Wayne Wichern, Sara Alms, and Ronda Chaney, who hosted the event). There was food. There was show and tell. There were fellow bloggers. There was lots of sharing. There were gifties!
So.much.fun!!
Muslins, yay or nay were discussed. Wordpress or blogger was discussed. Zippers were discussed. Vogue, Simplicity, Burda were discussed. Emma One Sock, Gorgeous Fabrics, FabricMart, Mood Fabrics, were all discussed.
So.much.fun!!!
I took photos with my cell. I'm sorry they aren't better quality and that I didn't capture everyone who attended, but this should give you an idea. If you are a Facebook fan of Cañada College Fashion Department, they will be posting pics.
Special Guests:
- Ronda Chaney, hostess and head of the Fashion Department at Cañada College
- Lynda Maynard, teacher and author of Couture Sewing Techniques
- Wayne Wichern, teacher and owner of Wayne Wichern Millinery
- Sara Alm, teacher and author of Fabulous Frocks
Bloggers:
- Cindy of Cation Designs
- Rose of Needles, Pins, Thorns
- JillyBe of JillyBe Joyful
- Beth of SunnyGal Studio
- Jean of J. Kaori Designs
- Amy of Sew Well
- Jenny of Jenny Rinn Designs
- Sonia of Sew with Sonia and Moroder Designs (knitwear)
- Katy of Katy Renee
I am an alumnus of the Cañada College Fashion Department - having attended in the early 1980s. It's clear to me that Ronda has done amazing things with this department and that it is as good, if not better, as in "my" day.
Thanks so much for a great evening and your generous gifties, Ronda and colleagues!
What a wonderful event! So glad that you had a good time and were able to meet up with other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteYou California gals have too much fun! Hmmm, reminds me of a Beach boys tune. I guess they knew what they were talking about! Glad you had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteHow much fun! Would you all please come to the Southeast??? Just for a week???
ReplyDeleteIt is on my list to someday take some courses at Canada. It is just far enough away to make it close to impossible right now. I love Lynda's books and I'm also a big fan of Rhonda. You and Jilly look great. I'm so happy you had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteGood times are a-happening over your way!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd just in case people didn't get the message....
ReplyDeleteThat was so. much. fun. !!!
So, did you all have a good time???? Ha ha only joking looks like you had a ball.
ReplyDeleteWonderful links and a big thank you for the pics---I now have a few more blogs to follow! I love it as I am totally in cowboy country up here.
ReplyDeleteYou met my cyber friend Jean - I'm very jealous! I am totally in love with Linda Maynard's blue top. Did she tell you anything about the pattern?
ReplyDeleteYou have been to some amazing places and met such interesting people. I'm so glad you share those experiences on your blog.
ReplyDeleteIt was great to see you again last night Shams! We'll have to plan something again soon. I want to see more of your zippers and bags and color charts. Now I need to find the time to write my own post about the fabulous event. (They sure know how to bring together a good group of people, right?) Again, it's always such a pleasure to get to catch up in person.
ReplyDeletePS Can I steal some of your photos? Thanks!
DeleteThank you! Once again you've brightened my day and provided me with some more "juice" to head up to my sewing room and do something wonderful! I appreciate how much you share with us all and look forward to to your posts. Rhonda Chaney's book (along with Lori Bottom" "Make it Your Own" changed the way I sew and how I look at a pattern. It gave me inspiration as well as information about how to make the changes happen. Please keep up your wonderful blog... and, again, THANK YOU!

What a great event! And the pictures are wonderful too. Thanks for sharing the experience.
ReplyDeleteShams, it was so nice to meet you last night.
ReplyDeleteF.U.N. was had indeed, hoe often do we get to have live show and tell. I have to say the whole way home I was pondering your tablecloth skirt, a plus symbol sewn together. And now I get it! So much more than the simpler Stevie Bucks handkerchief hem. Look forward to the next meet up. Who knows maybe I will be a Blogger by then!
What fun! I love the top photo of my two SF sewing babes!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun. I'm so glad I got to meet you in person!
