Thanks so much for your votes in challenge #3! I have made it to the fourth round in the FabricMart Fabricista Fashion Challenge!
I was sorry to say goodbye to Peggy in round 3. I spoke to Peggy by phone after she learned the news, and she has a great attitude about the experience, though she was already on her third muslin for the LBD when she got the news. She is excited to start up her fall and winter knitting, which she wasn't able to do while competing. I have really enjoyed sewing alongside Peggy and thought she went out on a really high note. Her garments, and especially her coat, were wonderful and completely true to who she is.
On to the next challenge, which is a good one. Here are the rules:
For this challenge, be creative and make a little black dress for your perfect night out.
Create a story for us. Are you going out with your husband on a romantic date or a fun night out with the girls? Where will you be going? What will you be doing? Your dress should be able to tell your story.
You will be judged on creativity, craftsmanship, how the dress tells your story, and fit.
Believe it or not, I have never owned a Little Black Dress!
I still don't.
I got a late start on this one and I haven't even cut it out yet. (I did muslin a pattern that I won't be using, however.)
Maybe my "story" is that I'm going skinny dipping!
Don't expect a post from me on Sunday, and maybe not even Monday, this week.
Wish me luck!
And, because I don't like to leave you empty handed, enjoy this eye candy that I found on Pinterest! (Oh, Pinterest, how do I love thee?)
You've made some great garments so far. I look forward to your LBD. Skinny dipping sewing is too easy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words. you are a wonderful friend and I bet you will pull something great out of this challenge. I had already started my LBD and will be blogging about it soon. SEW ON everybody!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I don't have a LBD either and it's been on my mind as something to have in my wardrobe. I look forward to seeing how you reinvent the LBD to suit you.
ReplyDeleteI, too, was very saddened to see Peg eliminated. I loved seeing her creations--so Peggy. I do wish you luck! can't wait to see your LBD (that you will not be skinny dipping in! lol).
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could do an "empress has no clothes" garment. . .
ReplyDeleteLike you I was sad to see Peggy get 'sent home.' Her garments have so much personality!
Good luck! I am so in awe of all of you. This is a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what you create in the spirit of LBD... The very different approach that each entrant brings to the challenge makes the results interesting, but I was very sad to see that Peggy was eliminated, as her choices were so very personalised to her individual style, not as "middle of the style road" as some of the others... But then, that is what I also appreciate about your sewing, not only the technical skill, but the creativity and personal quirks... that use of the keychains is BRILLIANT - I have seen those myriad times in the hardware store and never thought to use them on a garment!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this one. I have never had a little black dress either.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to see your take on the LBD. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the eye candy, oh, my! Pinned, pinned, pinned.
Woo-hoo, congratulations, can't wait to see your LBD
ReplyDeleteWell, I assume that doesn't have to actually be a dress. Pants can be pretty darned dressy. I'll be interested in the story too. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy sister in law wore the most fab LBD to a wedding recently. It had a simple blush colored silk dress. Then it had black silk organza over that. The black organza had interesting elements by three rows of French seams just below the waist and at the mid-calf hem. So simile and so elegant. Can't wait to see yours!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Shams, although I'm sure you'll make it though to the end.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to your next outfit. And, I have figured out how to comment on blogs using my tablet so I will be able to cheer you on. Tech news-my monitor died on my desktop, so I am on my tablet exclusively for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this dress! Well done :)
